Another Year… Another Successful Golf Classic!

Our CASA Golf Classic on Monday, April 25, sponsored by Chicago Title, Ticor Title Company and Fidelity National Financial, was an overwhelming success. Despite the threat of rain, some wind and low temperatures, well over 100 of the CASA faithful came out and had a great time at the Boundary Oaks course in Walnut Creek.

Competition ran high as the serious, and not so serious, golfers vied competitively for the top three foursomes of the tournament.

1st place: Gerry Blake's at Boundary Oak

2nd Place: Studio Blue

3dr Place: Miramonte golf team

Later that evening, in Blake’s Ballroom, CASA and approximately 150 guests recognized Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness month with our Light of Hope Reception.

Joe Fonzi, Weekend Sports Anchor for KTVU Channel 2,  was Master of Ceremony for the evening and did a wonderful job of welcoming our supporters to the Light of Hope Reception, sponsored by at&t, recognizing National Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month and the 25th Anniversary of CASA of Contra Costa County.

CASA Board President Malcolm Sher recognized the tremendous work and training the CASA volunteers go through in order to provide each of our children with a “uniquely able” voice in court.

Executive Director Keith Archuleta recognized our event sponsors, donors, volunteers, and golf committee members for all their hard work and dedication to CASA.

Everyone enjoyed the wonderful, fresh Surf and Turf banquet provided by Blake’s, and a live auction run by auctioneer, John Pereira, as CASA supporters bid higher and higher to secure not only the sought-after items, but CASA’s future of advocating for abused and neglected children. The item that encouraged the highest bid was “Table for 10 at CASA’s Evening of Promise, Blackhawk Auto Museum” which fetched a sum of $1,400!

The evening concluded with a raffle drawing for a weekend retreat for 6 at a privately owned condo in North Shore, Lake Tahoe, a case of limited release 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon from the exclusive Conn Creek vineyard in Napa Valley, and for two passes for 4 people to the DeYoung Museum or California palace of the Legion of Honor.

Overall, this day of golf and evening reception helped CASA to net approximately $28,000! Thank You!!!

Of course, this would not have been possible without the generous contributions of auction items, raffle ticket and foursome purchases, the Presenting Sponsorships from Chicago Title, Ticor Title Company and Fidelity National Financial, the Reception Sponsorship from at&t, and the Premiere Sponsorships from Adam & Christina Richards, Keith and Iris Archuletta, David Ryan (Morgan Stanley), Richard Flaig (Pepsi Co), Clement and Nancy Glynn, Sher Minnard, LLP, Morton Management LLC, and Jerry Rivera (Westamerica Bank).

Special thanks are in order to the many volunteers who contributed valuable time to assure we had help during this event.
