Despite Huge Local Outpouring of donations for Katrina victims the CASA Faithful manage to push the Evening of Promise to success.

I am happy to report what began as a slow start for this year’s Evening of Promise due to the focus of local attention on the victims of hurricane Katrina, picked up speed and ended in a roaring success.  Approximately 210 guests shared in the festivities and helped CASA net $74,000 to help continue our advocacy work for abused and neglected children throughout Contra Costa County.

Chair of the Contra Costa Board of supervisors, Gayle Uilkema received the CASA Light of Hope Award for the board’s consistent and generous support of CASA over the years.

The highlight of the evening was a moving video presentation created by Casa Staff member Gordana Zura and set to music arranged by Executive Director Keith Archuleta

Excitement was provided by the feverish pitch at which live auction item bids escalated. The items that encouraged the highest bidding were Rolling Stones tickets, a stay in Kauai and a home in Yosemite.  These items earned CASA $6,000.

We deeply appreciate the hard work of our planning committee and the CASA supporters who volunteered that evening to help ensure that everything went according to plan. Special thanks to Leslie Griffith, co-anchor for the News at Five and the 10 O'clock News, for her continued support and presence at our event.

Of course all of this would not have been possible without the generosity of our Board, our auction item donors and table sponsors, those who purchased individual tickets or program ads, and our presenting sponsor Chicago Title and our Title Sponsor SBC.
